Take Advantage of the Time We've Been Given
For those of you who do not know me, my name is Madeline. I am a Christian VIPKid and Outschool teacher who loves to take advantage of my mobile workplace to travel the world and tell people about Jesus everywhere I go! I have the most amazing husband who currently serves in the world's greatest Air Force and so graciously lets me take on whatever new adventures the LORD brings my way. We have been married for 11 months and they have been the best of my life. I cannot wait to see what else God has in store for us!
So lately, this Traveling Teacher has not done much traveling. Honestly, though, I am blessed. Not being able to travel is the worst thing that has happened to either me or my husband since COVID-19 took the world by storm. Compared to what other people are experiencing, I'd say tat's pretty good! I know that this pandemic has hit a lot of people really hard. It has impacted lives, families, and businesses to the point where I believe that life as we know it will never be the same.
When COVID-19 was beginning to have an impact in the United States in February, I was in Costa Rica. That's right! Livin' it up! I could not have been happier! Costa Rica is my favorite place to be. I booked an air bnb for several months at a great price (I'll write more about my travel tips and tricks in other posta), I was volunteering my time and services at a Bilingual School to which I could walk from my air bnb, and on top of all that, my VIPKid bookings were through the roof! (I guess for all the Chinese students at home, there was nothing better to do than talk to Teacher Madeline!) Just another day in paradise. That was until my husband informed me that if I didn't get home quickly, I could be trapped in Costa Rica for who-knows-how-long. (Honestly I wouldn't have minded so much, but whatever the husband says goes, am I right?) So, I packed up my essential belongings and booked the next flight back home to VA.
Since then, we've all had to cope with this new way of life: stay home, maintain social distance, limit outdoor activities, wash your hands frequently and so on and so forth. But what I find most interesting about this whole thing is the amount of time we have had to just be with our families. It really is a blessing! I mean when else will we literally be commanded to stay home and spend quality time with our loved ones? I for one, feel that this is a vital opportunity to better ourselves: relationally, spiritually, physically, academically, fiscally, mentally, etc.
What are those things you have always wanted to learn how to do?
What have you wished you had time to do with the kids?
What is that fitness goal you haven't had time to reach?
What are some home improvement projects you can take on while you are spending so much time in the house?
What have you wanted to say to that special someone (or someones) that you may have been putting off?
How do you want to see yourself at the end of this quarantine? Make some goals and go after them. Let's take advantage of the time we have! I'm telling ya, we're never going to be this free ever again!
"So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12
